Inspectors met with apprentices, delivery聽staff聽and senior聽leaders聽to聽evaluate聽the聽quality and impact of the work-based training provision.聽The report, published in January, highlights聽strong performance聽across several key areas, including leadership and management, learner achievement, curriculum聽design聽and teaching standards.聽

Ofsted聽praised聽ALS鈥檚聽inclusive聽and supportive culture,聽noting that apprentices鈥� wellbeing,聽safety聽and professional development are聽central to the organisations approach.聽Learners were described as confident,聽demonstrating聽high levels聽of聽engagement with their learning and a strong understanding of industry expectations.聽

Leadership was singled out for聽its聽in-depth聽knowledge of the provision and聽its responsiveness to employer feedback, ensuring the programme is aligned with the needs of the sector and the apprentices.聽Tutors and delivery staff were聽also聽praised for聽their commitment to professional development.聽Assessors undertake聽regular聽industry-specific training聽to聽maintain聽the聽high聽standards聽required聽within the highly regulated aerospace industry.聽聽

The curriculum and teaching methods聽were described聽as ambitious and聽future-forward, with a clear focus on developing the skills needed for the future of the aerospace industry.聽Apprentices聽benefit聽from expert teaching that breaks down complex technical concepts into clear, accessible learning.聽

Apprentices make聽excellent聽progress on聽programme,聽with聽both the聽achievement rate聽and apprenticeship pass rate聽exceeding聽the national average.聽Ofsted highlighted the unique relationship between training provider,聽employer聽and learner, describing it as聽a key strength of the programme.聽

A聽particular聽standout聽within聽the聽report聽was聽the聽focus on聽learner聽support聽and inclusion.聽ALS Training聽provides聽a range of pastoral support services, including access to a 24-hour helpline staffed by healthcare professionals,聽assistance聽with travel expenses, and tailored support to help apprentices succeed both academically and personally.聽
